There are many factors that contribute to the success of an independent e-commerce site, such as a visually appealing and smooth website, products with unique value, and attracting substantial traffic. However, I believe the most critical factor is: reject mediocrity.

If your products are mediocre, your website’s visuals are mediocre, and your content is mediocre, users have no reason to purchase from you. For small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, it is difficult to make every aspect—products, website, and content—perfect. But at the very least, one aspect should approach excellence.

If every element is mediocre, you may still attract some buyers if your price is low. However, a mediocre product combined with a high price will not sell.

A more effective strategy is to refine each stage gradually. For example, focus on improving the website’s visual design this month, enhance the site content next month, and ensure each stage has a clear priority and is executed well. Of course, the product itself should receive the most attention. No matter how well the website is designed, if the product is not good, achieving substantial sales will be very difficult.
