Effective SEO Techniques Summary

SEO can bring long-term organic traffic to your e-commerce website, creating a strong compounding effect. However, doing SEO well is not easy. The following techniques are a summary of my 10 years of website SEO experience, and I hope they can serve as a reference for you.

Collect High-Quality Keywords
Collecting high-quality keywords requires not only using keyword tools but also keeping an eye on industry articles to discover the latest keywords in time and incorporating them into your content. Generally, keywords from tools are often similar and highly competitive, while the latest keywords you find on X or news sites tend to be less competitive. When browsing posts on X, I often find keywords frequently used by users and integrate them into my articles, which works very well. Additionally, commonly misspelled words by users are also valuable keywords.

Create High-Quality Content
Even though AI can generate content now, if your content quality is low and cannot engage users, no amount of content generated by ChatGPT will bring sales. High-quality content must have unique value—for example, sharing things others don’t know or highly summarizing online information. Each article is like a product and must have unique value. For instance, this article I’m writing is based on my long-term personal experience; there is no similar content online, so it is valuable. Similar content, like similar products, becomes boring. Publishing product comparisons, experience notes, FAQ compilations, unboxing videos, and other content can effectively attract traffic.

Publish High-Quality Backlinks
You can publish quality content on platforms like Reddit, Medium, and X and include links. Since these platforms carry weight in Google’s search engine, your content can easily be discovered, indirectly driving traffic to your website.

Avoid Major Site Changes
Plan your site structure carefully from the beginning and avoid frequent changes later, such as modifying URL structures. We once switched our WordPress site to SucShop, and for a long period, traffic dropped significantly. After several months, traffic gradually recovered.

Submit a Sitemap
After your website goes live, generate a sitemap as soon as possible and submit it to Google Search Console. If major changes occur on your site, update the sitemap and resubmit it. SucShop has a built-in sitemap generation feature that supports automatic updates. In the backend, go to “Settings” → “SEO” to generate the sitemap file with one click, copy the link, and submit it to Google Search Console.

Fix Page Loading Issues
Google Search Console will alert you to pages with loading problems. You can find these links in the console, analyze the issues, and fix them to ensure all pages load smoothly. Poor pages consume Google’s crawl budget, so pages that are inaccessible or load slowly should either be fixed or deleted to avoid dragging down overall SEO performance.

Compress Images
Pages with many images may load slowly, increasing bounce rates and reducing page views. Compress images to improve speed. SucShop has a built-in image compression feature, so you just need to upload images without manually compressing them.

Do Not Host Videos Directly on Your Website
Video files are usually large. Hosting them directly on your server may cause buffering and slow down page loading. Instead, publish videos on YouTube and embed the HTML code into your website for smoother playback and faster speed.

Benchmark Competitors
Observe how competitors create content and how fast their websites load. Comparing yourself with top-performing peers will reveal gaps and help you improve.

Be Patient
Generally, if your website has high-quality content, fast page loading, and a visually comfortable layout, you can expect to appear in search results 1–2 months after submitting your domain and sitemap to Google Search Console. During this period, stay patient, continuously optimize your site, and create high-quality content. Avoid rushing and posting low-quality AI-generated content, as even if you gain traffic, users will not trust your website.

Combine SEO and SEM
I usually create a series of articles on my website, then split them into short posts or produce long or short videos for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms. Combining SEO and SEM in this way is highly effective.
