GEO Techniques

GEO is not separate from SEO; SEO is the foundation of GEO. Essentially, both aim to use high-quality content from various websites to help users solve problems. The difference is that GEO provides users with integrated answers rather than individual pieces of content.
Information Quality
Both Google and ChatGPT do not favor low-quality content. There is no single standard for evaluating the quality of website articles, but users can feel it. Plagiarized content or content farms frustrate users and will not be recommended by AI. Good articles should offer unique value, containing scarce information that is rarely found elsewhere, which increases the likelihood of being referenced.
Clear Article Structure
AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini prefer structured information, such as comparison tables, feature lists, or timelines. Articles with well-structured content are more likely to be cited by AI.
Include Authoritative Content
AI prefers to reference content from authoritative sources. Mentioning well-known websites or experts in your content increases the chance of being cited. Currently, some people publish exaggerated or false information to manipulate AI, which is a form of “AI poisoning.” This means AI model answers may remain unreliable for a long time.
Incorporate High-Value Keywords into Content
You don’t always need to place your website links directly in content. Embedding product names within articles allows users to search and find your website via Google naturally. Direct links may be perceived as ads and discourage clicks. To find high-value keywords, search your product names on Google, X, Instagram, and note the suggested terms. Repeat the process to collect more keywords. Paid keyword tools are also an option. Additionally, observe less noticed keywords while reading industry articles—these often have high potential with lower competition.
Use Question-Based Titles
When interacting with AI models like ChatGPT, users often use questions. AI models also prefer citing articles with question-based titles. Try rephrasing article titles as questions, e.g., “How to Solve [Problem]?”
Publish Content on Authoritative Platforms
New websites often have low authority. Publish content on platforms like Reddit and Medium. Avoid directly promoting your product; the most effective advertising often looks like regular content rather than ads.
Currently, AI does not have consistent citation rules, and GEO methods are still being explored. Take advantage of this opportunity and focus on implementing GEO strategies effectively.
